Things nobody tells the bride…

All the things you need to know for the morning of your wedding day.

Sheet Masks and Pimple Patches…

We love them, but not on your wedding day.

Lets chat pimple patches! Makeup will not stick to where the patch was previously applied and you will be left with visible rings on your face. If you wake up with a pimple on the day of your wedding, do not fret! Treat it with ice and hydrating products. Whatever you do - do not squeeze! Remember you have a professional coming to the rescue and there will not be a pimple in sight after makeup.

But why cant I use my favourite sheet mask? Great question, I have a three part answer for you!

Part 1: They can cause your makeup to pill and not last as well.

Part 2: You could have a reaction - never use anything new on your wedding day.

Part 3: It goes into your hairline. Your hairstylist will ask for freshly washed hair the day of your wedding. No amount of dry shampoo will cover the serum from your sheet mask…

So… when is a good time to use a sheet mask? Absolutely use a mask the night before your wedding! Make sure it is hydrating (without actives) and you have tried it at least two times before(we don’t need any skin reactions)

Music…

Having a getting ready playlist is essential!

First of all, make sure you sus out if your getting ready location has a speaker and pack one in your bags just in case. This is the number one thing I find that gets missed when planning the morning.

Once the speaker situation is sorted, you need to find a banger playlist! My top tip… don’t look up wedding playlists, they are full of cringe songs and you have a long day ahead of you. You NEED hype music.

You can either curate your own playlist or find something that suits your vibe on Spotify (for someone with music selection anxiety, like me, I would go for the latter).

Last but not least, the brides phone should never be connected to the speaker. You will be receiving messages and calls all morning, make sure you have someone else’s phone allocated to music so it’s not starting and stopping constantly.

You’re gonna need to eat breakfast

I know the last thing you want is to feel bloated for your wedding

But, you are not going to eat a single thing until around 4pm (if you are lucky). Make sure you have a breakfast and/or lunch that fulfils you for a long time.

Try not to have too many mimosas while you are getting ready

I get it, saying I do in front of 100+ people is super exciting (or nerve wracking). I am all for a mimosa with your nearest and dearest while you are getting ready.

However, I have seen my fair share of brides have a few too many and need to try sober up fast before they walk down the aisle.

Try to allocate a family member or bridesmaid that knows your limits to pour your drinks responsibly.

Your hair is gonna feel crusty AF

We all want soft luscious locks right? WRONG

Your hairstylist is most likely going to put a TONNE of texturizing products in, this will make your hair feel dry to the touch but ensure your style’s longevity. Make sure you have a deep conditioning mask ready for the next day and your locks will be good as new.

Hair masks the night before? Absolutely not

You want your hair to hold as well as possible. We love a hair mask but all it’s going to do is make your hair heavy and hard to style. Prep your hair with two shampoos and a lightweight conditioner on the mids to ends only. Do this ideally the morning of, or night before the wedding.
